Prisons suspend visits, parties and leave ahead of Christmas

KAMPALA: The Uganda Prisons Services have visits, parties and leave among other measures aimed at curbing any form of terrorism and prison break ahead of the festive season.

Commissioner of Prisons Johnson Byabashaija announced the raft of measures in his Friday communication to commanders.

He asked the officers to strengthen prison security, intelligence and coordination with other security agencies.

“Hired prisoner services (Kibarua) is suspended. Conduct routine patrols around the prison and within the barracks,” the CG ordered.
