UIA boss Mukiza, others told to cough shs500m in honoraria awards
KAMPALA: The Director General of Uganda Investment Authority, Dr Robert Mukiza, and several other staff have been ordered to refund at least shs545m that the group awarded themselves as honoraria payment.
According to sources, the man was paid off the loan-funded Kampala Industrial Park Development project.
The directive was issued by UIA board chairman, Morrison Rwakakamba under the orders of privatization state minister Evelyn Anite.
The directive indicates that Mukiza had received shs82m while his deputy, Robert Kyalimpa pocketed shs58m on July 23, 2023.
The minister wanted the money refunded in 24 hours but it is not clear whether the officials have since returned it since the directive came on June 12.
