KIBOGA, August 1, 2025. Kiboga District is reeling from a public funds scandal with two top officials charged on Friday with conspiring to steal millions meant for critical road maintenance.

This dramatic legal action, spearheaded by the State House Anti-Corruption Unit, aims to hold those accountable for the alleged theft.

The suspects include Mukiibi Ismail, the District Engineer, and Bwante Moses, the Assistant Engineering Officer. They are accused of conspiracy to defraud. Others are reportedly still at large.

The charges stem from events between 2023 and 2024. The officials allegedly conspired to defraud the district of millions of shillings. This money was meant for fuel for road maintenance.

It is claimed the accused connived with managers of fuel stations. They allegedly took cash meant for fuel supplies.

The officials are also accused of fraudulently claiming fuel for grounded vehicles. These vehicles had been out of service for several months.

The two officials were remanded to prison. They will return to court. Their next appearance is set for August 14, 2025.
