SHACU-Kisoro Officials Face Court Over Jobs

KISORO-Three individuals, including two senior Kisoro District Local Government officials and a private broker, were arraigned before the Anti-Corruption Court in Kampala on corruption and conspiracy charges. The accused include District Speaker Hakizimana Amos, District Service Commission Chairperson Nshaka Erastus, and private individual Muhanika Alphonse. They have been remanded in custody until 14 September 2026.
According to the prosecution, the suspects allegedly solicited and received over UGX 200 million from multiple job applicants between 2024 and 2025. The funds were reportedly taken in exchange for promises to secure public employment within the Kisoro District Local Government. The joint enforcement operation was conducted by anti-corruption units, the Criminal Investigations Directorate, and the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions.
Ongoing investigations and efforts to apprehend remaining suspects are currently active. Authorities have strongly urged members of the public who may have been affected by these illicit recruitment schemes, or who possess relevant information, to step forward and assist investigators.
