Anti-Corruption Court Sends OPM Officials to Luzira Over Abuse of Office Case
KAMPALA – The Anti-Corruption Court has remanded two officials from the Office of the Prime Minister (OPM) to Luzira Prison after they were charged with abuse of office.
The accused are Patrick Okello, the Commissioner for Refugees Management, and Noel Ikwap, an Assistant Information Technology Officer at the OPM.
Appearing before Grade One Magistrate Esther Asiimwe, the pair was remanded until August 10, 2026, when the case will be mentioned and their bail application heard.
The case was filed by the Inspectorate of Government (IGG), which said the prosecution forms part of its sustained campaign to strengthen accountability, fight corruption and enforce the rule of law in public institutions.
The IGG prosecution team comprised Principal Officer Prosecutions Mikka Luteete, Principal Officer Litigation Diana Nantabazi and Inspectorate Officer Pius Kaweesi.
The latest prosecution adds to the Inspectorate’s ongoing crackdown on abuse of public office, as the agency intensifies efforts to promote transparency and integrity in government institutions.
