KAMPALA – In a move to bolster economic ties, Nigeria’s High Commissioner to Uganda, Ambassador John Shama Shaga, has met with the head of the State House Anti-Corruption Unit (SH-ACU), Brig Gen Henry Isoke, this week.

The high-level meeting, held at the SH-ACU offices, focused on a collaborative strategy to tackle fraud and enhance bilateral trade between the two African nations.

Ambassador Shaga and Brig Gen Isoke discussed concrete ways their respective entities could cooperate to protect potential investors from fraudulent schemes.

They acknowledged that a key impediment to expanding trade under the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) framework is the presence of such criminal activities.

By joining forces, they aim to create a more secure and trustworthy investment climate.

Both officials highlighted the strong, historical ties between Uganda and Nigeria, emphasizing that a renewed focus on combating corruption would further solidify this partnership.

The initiative is seen as a crucial step towards unlocking the full economic potential of both countries, paving the way for increased investment and mutual prosperity in the region.
