ENTEBBE— The Entebbe Chief Magistrates Court has remanded two individuals following their arrest over an intricate land fraud and forgery syndicate.

The enforcement operation highlights ongoing efforts to curb rampant land-related crimes within the region.
The suspects have been identified as Mugisha Junior Bukanura Agaba and Akora Naume.

The duo was apprehended after a detailed investigation into their fraudulent activities. The successful arrest was the result of a coordinated joint operation.

The State House Anti-Corruption Unit worked alongside the Criminal Investigations Directorate (CID) and the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP).

In court, the suspects faced multiple criminal charges. These include obtaining money by false pretenses, forgery, uttering false documents, and personation.
The prosecution stated that the multi-million shilling fraud took place on October 14, 2025. The suspects, alongside accomplices who remain at large, allegedly conned a victim identified as Mugenyi Bob.

The suspects falsely claimed to own a prime piece of land located in Nalugala, Busiro. They managed to convince the unsuspecting buyer to part with UGX 80 million for the property.

To pull off the deception, the duo forged National Identity Cards using the details of the genuine landowners. They kept the original names and National Identification Numbers but substituted the photographs with their own.

After executing a completely fraudulent sale agreement, the suspects pocketed the cash for land they had no authority to sell. The court has officially remanded both individuals until July 15, 2026, as investigations continue.
