WAKISO — One more suspect has been remanded over alleged land grabbing in Wakiso District.

The State House Anti-Corruption Unit, in collaboration with the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions and the Criminal Investigations Directorate, has arraigned Tamale Abdu before the Wakiso Chief Magistrates Court.

He faces charges of forcible entry, destroying crops and theft, and has been remanded until October 13, 2026.

Court heard that Tamale joins other suspects who were earlier charged and remanded over similar offences related to land comprising Busiro Block 514, Plots 6, 10 and 12.

Prosecution alleges that between October 30 and November 4, 2025, at Kasanje Town Council in Wakiso District, Tamale and others still at large, violently entered land said to be occupied by Kamuli Industrial Estates Ltd.

It is alleged they assembled a large number of people, unlawfully destroyed tree plantations, coffee trees and other natural trees, and stole nine motors for coffee milling machines belonging to the company, valued at approximately Shs100 million.

The accused allegedly claimed to have a kibanja interest on the said land.
