KAMPALA. Last evening, Brig Gen Henry Isoke, Head of the State House Anti-Corruption Unit (SH-ACU), addressed members of the Rotary Club of Kasangati on the topic “Corruption: A Threat to Peace.”

The event, held in Kasangati, Uganda, was part of Rotary’s February theme, “Peace Building & Conflict Prevention” Month.

Brig Isoke underscored the detrimental impact of corruption on Uganda’s development and stability. “Corruption undermines the delivery of essential services and diverts resources meant for the public good into the hands of a few, perpetuating inequality,” he stated. He emphasized that such practices erode trust in institutions and fuel social unrest, posing a direct threat to peace.

He also outlined the government’s efforts to combat corruption, citing recent reforms. “We have established robust legal, administrative, and institutional frameworks to address this vice,” Isoke explained. “These measures are critical in ensuring accountability and restoring public confidence.”

Brig Isoke thanked Mr. Andrew Kisitu, former commissioner of prisons and club secretary, for the invitation, praising the Rotary Club’s contributions to peace-building. “Your initiatives in community development and ethical leadership are invaluable in fostering social and economic well-being,” he said.

The event concluded with a call for collective action, as Isoke reaffirmed the government’s commitment to rooting out corruption and building a more equitable society.
