KAMPALA – Lujja Bbosa Tabula, the prime suspect in the murder of former Ndiga Clan leader Eng. Daniel Bbosa, has confessed to the crime, revealing three motives behind his actions.

Tabula appeared on Friday at Buganda Road Court before Chief Magistrate Ronald Kayiizi, where he provided an extrajudicial statement admitting to orchestrating the murder of his clan head.

According to a reliable source, who requested anonymity due to the sensitive nature of the confession, the primary reason for Eng. Bbosa’s murder was a desire for revenge.

“Tabula claimed that Eng. Bbosa and his family were responsible for the murder of his father, Israel, in 1989. They also sold Ndiga clan land in Mbale, Mpigi, forcing his ancestors to relocate to Namulonge. He was attempting to secure ownership of the Namulonge land, but Eng. Bbosa opposed his efforts,” the source disclosed.

The source further revealed that Tabula’s confession lasted 4 hours and 58 minutes, during which he implicated his 21-year-old nephew, Noah Lujja, as an accomplice, while clearing four other suspects of involvement.

The four cleared suspects are Harriet Nakiguli, 40, Joseph Nakabale, 47, Ezra Mayanja, 44, and Milly Naluwenda, 46.

Tabula also claimed that the Buganda Kingdom’s Tradition Court clerk, Naluwenda, was only guilty of informing him of Eng. Bbosa’s death. Regarding the 17 skulls found at his shrine in Mpigi, he insisted they were obtained for ancestral rituals and denied killing anyone to acquire them.

Tabula is scheduled to appear at Mwanga II court on Monday for a hearing of the charges, with the court noting that investigations have been completed.

Preliminary police investigations indicated that Tabula collaborated with Ms. Naluwenda to hire the assassins who killed Eng. Bbosa on February 25 near his home in Kikandwa, Lungujja Parish, Rubaga Division, Kampala.

The prosecution alleges that on February 25, 2024, at Kikandwa-Lungujja village in Rubaga Division, Kampala District, Tabula and others, with malice aforethought, unlawfully caused the death of Eng. Daniel Kakeedo Bbosa.

Eng. Bbosa was shot dead on the evening of February 25, 2024, by gunmen on a motorcycle as he approached his residence in Lungujja, Rubaga Division. The assassins were chased by a group of Boda Boda riders led by Abdul Katabaazi, resulting in the death of one assassin and the apprehension of another, Noah Lujja, despite the assailants drawing guns on them.
