Brig Isoke: Enforce Anti-Trafficking Laws

KAMPALA, UGANDA – July 30, 2025 – Uganda marked World Day Against Trafficking in Persons today. Brigadier General Henry Isoke led a symbolic walk. This event was organized by the Uganda Child Rights NGO Network. The Ministry of Internal Affairs supported it.
Stakeholders gathered to advocate for safe labor migration. They also discussed challenges in the sector. The day was a time to reflect on Uganda’s efforts.
It highlighted struggles against rising trafficking cases. Vulnerable groups are especially at risk. This includes women, children, refugees, and disabled persons.
Human trafficking involves exploiting people. This often means sexual exploitation and forced labor.
Brigadier General Isoke stressed enforcing anti-trafficking laws.
Uganda has the Prevention of Trafficking in Persons Act. But true progress needs better implementation. Corruption often hinders this.
Uganda’s national plan follows IOM’s 4Ps. These are Prevention, Protection, Prosecution, and Partnership.
General Isoke noted government efforts to boost incomes. Programs like PDM and Emyooga empower vulnerable people, he said.
He urged vigilance from all Ugandans. Report suspicious activity. Help build a society protecting human rights.
