Kamuli Officials Charged Over Funds

KAMULI. The SH ACU (State House Anti-Corruption Unit) in collaboration with the CID and DPP have arraign two high-ranking officials from Kamuli District.
The Chief Administrative Officer, Nasser Mukiibi, and the Chief Finance Officer, Alex Kifuuse, appeared before the Anti-Corruption Court to face charges of abuse of office and causing financial loss.
According to the allegations brought forward by the SH ACU, the duo—alongside an accomplice still at large—irregularly processed over UGX 600 million between May and June 2025.
These funds were specifically earmarked for the rehabilitation and maintenance of the Nawanyago-Kisozi Road.
The SH ACU investigation revealed that while payments were approved for fuel, construction materials, and traffic signs from various suppliers, the scheduled works were never actually performed.
By ensuring these officials were brought to justice, the SH ACU highlighted a grave misappropriation of public resources meant for infrastructure.
The court heard that despite the total depletion of the allocated budget, the road remained untouched.
Following the presentation of evidence by the SH ACU, the accused were remanded until January 20, 2026.
