Former district boss jailed for stealing wreckage of govt car
KAMPALA: A former district chairperson will spend almost two years in jail after being convicted of theft of a wrecked government vehicle.
“This morning, the Grade One Magistrates’ Court in Matuga has convicted and sentenced the former Amudat district LC5 Chairperson, Francis Kiyonga Adamson, to 23 months and 14 days in jail and a fine of UGX 80M to be paid to Amudat district within six months of completing his sentence,” Anti-Corruption Unit of State House noted.
Kiyonga was charged in 2021 with stealing and selling spare parts of a government vehicle, a double cabin pick-up truck registration number UG 0654, belonging to the Amudat District under the Youth Livelihood Programme.
He stole it from Matugga Police Station and sold it in parts.
