Former AG Kiddhu Makubuya 75, dies
KAMPALA. Shortly after the passing of media personality Joseph Tamale Mirundi, who was laid to rest in Rakai district, unfortunate news has emerged that former Attorney General and Minister, Prof Kiddu Makubuya, has also passed away at the age of 74.
His daughter, Rebecca Nabagala, has confirmed his death, although specific details are currently limited. Earlier this year, there were false reports of his demise on Martyrs’ Day, but it was later clarified that he was critically ill and hospitalized at Nakasero hospital.
Prof Kiddu Makubuya began his political journey as a Member of Parliament for Katikamu South Constituency in 1996 and went on to hold various ministerial positions such as State Minister for Luwero Triangle, State Minister of Foreign Affairs (International Cooperation), Minister of Education and Sports, Justice and Constitutional Affairs Minister, and Attorney General from 2005 to 2011. He also served as Minister of General Duties in the Prime Minister’s office before resigning from the cabinet in February 2012.
Apart from his government roles, Prof Kiddu Makubuya was a distinguished lawyer who also contributed to various endeavors outside of President Museveni’s administration.
