22 May 2025

KAJJANSI. Ssembuze Elly and Miyingo Vicent were arraigned before the Kajjansi Chief Magistrate’s Court on Monday on charges stemming from a land dispute incident in Namulanda Ward, Kajjansi Town Council, Wakiso District.

The arraignment was conducted by the State House Anti-Corruption Unit in coordination with the Criminal Investigations Directorate (CID) and the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP).

The two individuals have been charged with offenses related to destruction of property and theft. They were remanded to custody until May 26, 2025, as investigations into the matter continue.

According to court submissions, the charges are linked to an incident that occurred around midnight on April 6, 2025. It is alleged that the accused, accompanied by unidentified individuals, entered a residential property in Namulanda and proceeded to demolish a house reportedly occupied by Robert Twambale and his family. In addition to the residence, structures such as a poultry house and pigsty were also allegedly destroyed, and several household items were reported missing.

The incident is part of a long-running land dispute involving two families: that of the late Bethuel Nsubuga, Twambale’s father, and the late Cyprian Ssemwanga. The contested land spans approximately 2.6 acres in Namulanda.
