Renowned Mityana land grabber remanded over fraud

MITYANA: A man described by authorities as a notorious land grabber in Mityana District has been charged in court over allegations of fraud.
Lutwaama Isaac Magandaazi was arraigned before the Mityana Chief Magistrate’s Court and charged with obtaining money by false pretences. He has been remanded until April 9, 2026.
According to investigations by the State House Anti-Corruption Unit, working together with the Criminal Investigations Directorate and the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions, the accused allegedly defrauded a victim of Shs37 million.
The offence is said to have occurred between March and August 2020 in Nawanga, Zigoti Town Council, Mityana District. Lutwaama reportedly claimed he was selling land located at Block 24, Plot 53, which he did not own.

Authorities further revealed that the suspect is linked to multiple similar cases in Mityana and Wakiso districts. Members of the public who may have been affected have been urged to report to the relevant authorities.
