Anti-Corruption Agencies move to Empower Youth Against Corruption
KAMPALA. The Inspector General of Government (IGG) Betty Kamya, accompanied by other anti-corruption agencies, Wednesday gathered at the Uganda Media Centre for a joint press briefing communicating strategies to Empower Youth in Fight Against Corruption.
The press briefing highlighted the ongoing efforts to tackle corruption in the country as part of the commemoration of International Anti-Corruption Day.
Under the theme “promoting effective youth participation in the fight against corruption,” the focus was on empowering the younger generation to take an active role in addressing this pervasive issue. With young people constituting over 78% of the population, their involvement is crucial in shaping a corruption-free future for Uganda.
Brig Gen Henry Isoke, head of the SH-ACU, emphasized the progress made in raising awareness among citizens, acknowledging that while corruption remains a significant challenge, the country is taking strides to combat it. The call to action is clear – the youth have the potential to be powerful agents of change in the fight against corruption, and providing them with platforms to voice their concerns is vital for building a transparent and accountable society.
