Four Remanded in Tororo Over Alleged State House Anti-Corruption Unit Forgery

TORORO — Four people have been remanded by the Tororo Chief Magistrate’s Court following allegations of personation, forgery, and uttering false documents tied to a local land dispute.

The suspects have been identified as Simon Peter Byamukama (alias Opio), a 32-year-old pastor; John Odoi, 43; Gad Sikenyi, 51, a driver; and Margaret Akola, 56.

According to official reports from the Bukedi South Regional police, the group recently visited Nyakesi E3 village in Nyangole Sub-county, Tororo District.

Presenting a court order, they allegedly claimed to be legal investigators from the State House Anti-Corruption Unit (SH-ACU) assigned to mediate a property dispute involving Ben Kiwanuka and the family of the late Agnes Apio Nyaketcho.

However, scrutiny of the presentation raised immediate red flags. The complainant and local authorities noticed the documents lacked the authentic official stamps of the SH-ACU.

Suspicion prompted an immediate alert to the Tororo Resident District Commissioner (RDC), leading to a swift police intervention.
Security forces have since recovered and exhibited the allegedly falsified documents.

The four accused, who maintain their right to a fair trial, have been remanded until July 14, 2026, as investigations conclude.
