SH-ACU arrests corrupt district boss
KAMPALA. State House anti-corruption Unit (SH-ACU) in its dedication to fighting against corruption until the nation reaches a pivotal moment and eliminate this wrongdoing has arraigned a district boss in court.
Mr. Mpuga David, the Chairperson of the Rakai District Service Commission, was captured following numerous complaints by SH-ACU led by Gen. Henry Isoke.
On Monday, the 7th of January 2024, Mr. Mpuga faced three corruption charges in the Anti-Corruption Court after being accused of soliciting and receiving UGX 20 million from a job applicant in exchange for securing a position as an Agricultural Officer in Rakai District.
Despite the payment made, no job offer materialized. Mr. Mpuga refutes all allegations brought against him.
The arrest of the accused was carried out jointly by the State House Anti-Corruption Unit, the Uganda Police, and the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions.
This arrest was in response to public outcry regarding Mr. Mpuga’s consistent demand for bribes for every available vacancy within the Rakai District.
The State House Anti-Corruption Unit has played a crucial role in combating corruption by conducting arrests, investigations, and prosecutions of individuals involved in corrupt practices. They work alongside other law enforcement agencies to address public concerns and hold perpetrators accountable for their actions.
