Land Grab Trio Remanded

The legal crackdown on alleged land fraud continued this week as the SHACU brought three men before the Wakiso Chief Magistrates Court.
Ssempijja Edward, Mirimu Ivan, and Bbaale Joseph were remanded until December 3, 2025, facing charges of forcible entry, destroying crops, and theft.
The specific charges stem from a violent attempt to seize land in Kasanje Town Council, Wakiso District.
The trio is accused of gathering a large group to forcibly enter and occupy land, identified as Busiro Block 514, Plots 6, 10, & 12, between October 30 and November 4, 2025.
This land was occupied by Pontiano Kaweesa Ssengendo of Kamuli Industrial Estates Ltd. The suspects allegedly destroyed valuable tree plantations and coffee trees, and stole nine motors of coffee milling machines belonging to Kamuli Industrial Estates Ltd, valued at approximately UGX 100 million.
This action by the SHACU and partners underscores the commitment to fighting land-related corruption.
The SHACU has vowed to continue pursuing all individuals involved. The case is a stark reminder that the SHACU will utilize the full force of the law against land grabbers.
The SHACU stated that the fight against corruption remains a top priority. The swift action taken by the SHACU in this case is intended to serve as a deterrent.
